Skoklosters slott, Скоклостер - Skokloster Castle, Skokloster, Uppsala län, Konungariket Sverige.
Skokloster Castle is the largest private palace ever built in Sweden. Its architecture, intact interiors, and exquisite furnishings make it one of Europe's most outstanding Baroque castles.
The farmstead has been known since the 11th century. The current castle was built between 1654 and 1676 by Count and Field Marshal Carl Gustaf Wrangel during the most prosperous period of Sweden's great power. The castle's designs were primarily prepared by the German architect Caspar Vogel, with subsequent contributions from Jean de la Vallée, Matthias Spieler, and Nicodemus Tessin d'Orsay. The castle was built in the Baroque style.
However, the castle was never fully completed, and construction ceased when its designer, Wrangel, died in 1676.
When word of Wrangel's death reached the castle workers, they immediately postponed work for fear of not being paid. Plants against the water were also not planned, and the magnificent gardens were completed. Skokloster contains three weapon collections: the Wrangel, Braš, and Belkeska collections.
