Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt - Hessian State Museum Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Hessen, Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
The Armory, designed by Alfred Messel as a late Gothic hall, is one of the museum's original rooms. It is here that the historical collection of weapons was returned, including the famous finds from Tannenberg Castle, which was destroyed in 1399. The world of knights and lancers comes to life with helmets, tournament accessories, firearms, and cutting and stabbing weapons on display. In addition to paintings and sculptures, original armor demonstrates the development of plate armor. Like a fashion show, they are arranged chronologically on a podium leading up to the top of the room. The podium symbolizes that "iron clothing," like its textile counterparts, followed the developments and fashion trends of its time.
The museum displays the works of famous masters:
Valentin Siebenbürger, Nuremberg, Germany.
