Stigma letters S and R

There is no information available about the life and work of master armorer Stefan Rohrmoser. He is famous for the superb armor he crafted for the nobleman Franz von Teuffenbach, which he completed in 1554. The date is engraved on the front and back of the cuirass. On the front of the cuirass and on the helmet, the armorer inscribed his initials "S" and "R." The breastplate also depicts Count Franz von Teuffenbach himself, kneeling before a cavalryman, with his name "FRANZ" engraved on a scroll above. The armor is decorated with antique bands depicting trophies, urns, busts, and other motifs.
