Zasadka Castle

Zasadka Castle - Zámek Zásadka, Mnichovo Hradiště, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic.

Originally a 14th-century Gothic castle, it was later rebuilt into a Renaissance manor house. The ruins of the estate stand on a high, steep bank above the confluence of the Jizera and Mohelka rivers, approximately 5 km from Mnichovo Hradiště. The current site features the remains of moats, ramparts, and the manor's walls.
After 1560, the castle was converted into a two-winged Renaissance manor, which likely comprised two stories. Its owners included Matěj Pomázka of Zliv, George of Poděbrady, Markvart Frycek of Daliměřice, the Lords of Řehnice, Hedvika of Házmburk, Kateřina Žerotínská of Smiřice, Albrecht von Wallenstein, and Václav Budovec of Budov.
Two partially filled-in basement rooms with barrel vaults have survived to the present day, as have parts of the stone window surrounds and an arched cornice on the exterior facades. Older descriptions suggest that the manor featured sgraffito decoration.
