The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
The Cleveland Museum of Art was founded in 1913 "for the benefit of all people forever." The museum opened on June 6, 1916, after years of planning. Its creation was made possible by Cleveland industrialists Hinman B. Hurlbut, John Huntington, and Horace Kelly, who bequeathed funds specifically for the art museum, as well as Jeptha H. Wade II, whose property in Wade Park was donated for the site. The foundation established by these founders continues to support the museum. The original neoclassical building of white Georgian marble was designed by the Cleveland firm Hubbell & Benes and built at a cost of $1.25 million. Located north of Wade Lagoon, it is the centerpiece of the city's Fine Arts Garden.
The museum displays the works of famous masters:
Anton Peffenhauser, Augsburg, Germany.
Antonio Missaglia, Milan, Italy.
Konrad Seusenhofer, Innsbruck, Austria.
Pompeo della Cesa, Milan, Italy.
