Tepelena Fortress - Kalaja e Tepelenës

Tepelena Fortress - Kalaja e Tepelenës, Tepelena, Gjirokaster County, Republic of Albania.

   Construction took place in two stages, as evidenced by two distinct structures: a small castle within the larger fortress, built in the 14th century, and a larger fortress, erected by Ali Pasha in the early 19th century. The castle has three polygonal towers located at the northwest, southwest, and southeast corners, covering a total area of ​​5.5 hectares. The fortress has three entrances: one on the east side, one on the west, and one on the south side, which is the main entrance. Until 1820, it served as Ali Pasha Tepelena's second residence.
