The Knights' Hall. On July 29, 1847, Princess Ottilie's 40th birthday, the Knights' Hall was opened at Braunfels Castle. Her husband, Prince Ferdinand (1797 - 1873), managed to give her a special birthday gift that could also serve as a festive venue for the birthday celebration.
This is what the Knights' Hall looked like when it opened in 1847. The painting, which depicts Ferdinand in armor and Ottilie, is likely by Johannes Deicker. It hangs in the Knights' Hall, which looks much the same today.
