Historical Weapons
The oldest items in the Historical Weapons collection are believed to be in the Salzburg Armories and the Archbishop's body and rifle chambers. These include armor parts, as well as bare and gear-like weapons from the late Middle Ages and early modern period, individual early firearms, guns, numerous wheellock carbines, and guards' poles of the Prince-Archbishops. Numerous pistols, rifles, and hunting weapons have been preserved both in the Archbishop's rifle chambers and through later acquisitions and donations. Other paramilitary items include historical flags, uniforms, and equipment of the Salzburg Citizens' Armed Forces, the National Guard in 1848, the Imperial and Royal Army, and Regiment Rainer No. 59.
