   The Altes Zeughaus Museum is world-renowned for its collection of weaponry. More than 400 pieces of armor and a similar number of helmets, dating from the 15th to 17th centuries, primarily come from southern Germany (especially Nuremberg), with 39 pieces showing a connection to Solothurn.
   The collection includes, on the one hand, richly decorated representative pieces, which were specifically made for members of the Solothurn upper class, and, on the other, armor for common servants, which was readily available in large quantities.
