Klamorna Castle

The remains of a prehistoric hillfort and a rock castle can be found on a promontory extending from the plateau known as Hrada.
Not far from the Hrada hillfort lies another prehistoric structure—Klamorna Castle. What was the castle's exact function? We can only speculate. Was Klamorna merely an advanced fortified outpost for the nearby Drábské světničky? Did the two castles have different owners and stand in opposition to one another? All of this remains shrouded in mystery, as historical documents offer no answers. In all likelihood, Klamorna and the Hrada hillfort formed a single fortified complex, providing a safe refuge for local inhabitants during times of danger. Klamorna and Hrada were connected only by a narrow gap and were separated by a timber-and-earth rampart measuring 2 meters in height and nearly 7 meters in width. However, human presence here is scientifically documented; archaeologists date it back to the Paleolithic era. A castle was built here in the Middle Ages—around the 13th century—but was unfortunately abandoned in the 1430s. The structure began to fall into disrepair, a process accelerated by rockfalls. Today, only a few small chambers and a well (approximately 5 meters deep) in the southern section remain of the castle.
You can reach Klamorna by taking the path from Drábské světničky along the edge of the sandstone cliffs, following the red hiking trail markers toward Píčův statek. From there, walk an estimated 200 meters and you will come across Klamorna.
