Opeka Castle

Opeka Castle - Dvorac Opeka, Marcan, Varazdin County, Republic of Croatia.

Kirpič Castle is located in the town of Vinči in Varaždin County. Built in the Baroque style in the second half of the 17th century, it is believed to have received its name from its location next to a former brick factory. According to an inscription above the entrance from 1674, the castle's first owners were the Keglević family.
The original layout of the castle was shaped like the letter B, a popular form in the High Baroque era.
Around 1860, the castle's new owners began transforming the area around the castle in keeping with the spirit of the time, creating a park filled with exotic trees.
In the 20th century, the castle was nationalized. After World War II, it housed various services, including a school. Restoration and reconstruction of the castle have been repeatedly considered, but this has not yet been done, and the castle continues to deteriorate, despite being designated a protected cultural heritage site by the Republic of Croatia in December 2007.
