Festetic Castle - Dvorac Feštetić, Pribislavec, Medimurje County, Republic of Croatia.
The castle was most likely built in the 16th century and belonged to members of the influential Zrinski family until almost the end of the 17th century. The castle's name derives from the Croatian-Hungarian Festetics family, which owned it since 1791.
Before its reconstruction in 1870, by order of Count György Festetics, the castle was surrounded by a park and a beautiful garden with a chapel. The reconstruction was done in the Neo-Gothic style using hewn stone, particularly reflected in the spires of the tower on the southeast side, the bay windows, the arches, and the window and door openings.
After its sale in 1923, the castle housed various civil servants, other employees, and even the children of war refugees. After World War II, the castle housed the local elementary school, which still uses it today. Despite being repeatedly damaged during wars, looted, devastated, and even set on fire, Festetics Castle has always remained beautiful. Today, it is in relatively good condition and, according to many, is considered the most beautiful and romantic of all the castles in Croatia.
