Sohier Castle - Château de Sohier, Sohier-Wellin, Luxembourg Province, Walloon Region, Kingdom of Belgium.
The Château de Sohier, built in a uniform style, dates back to around 1300 and is situated on a vast grounds covering 3.6 hectares.
It has four wings, with three-story towers at the corners of the western wings.
In the northeast corner stands a square defensive tower, partially dating back to 1616, but due to its dilapidated state, it had to be demolished. It was restored in 1866.
The roofs are covered with slate. The oldest parts of the castle date back to the 14th century.
After World War II, the area around the castle was redeveloped, and the park was completely enclosed and walled. Over the course of five years, eight centuries after the laying of the foundation stone, the castle and its outbuildings underwent a major restoration, carried out in an exceptionally elegant, reliable, and environmentally friendly manner, using the finest materials appropriate to the new era.
