Instituto Ricardo Brennand - Institute Ricardo Brennand, Recife, República Federativa do Brasil.
The Ricardo Brennand Museum, which houses the collection of bladed weapons, armor, and works of art from a wide range of origins and periods that he amassed throughout his life, became the Museo de Armas Castelo São João and has become one of the most important private collections in the world.
A visit is like entering the soul of a collector, a true invitation to travel through time and discover diverse medieval objects.
The museum houses over 3,000 exhibits—knives, swords, daggers, pocket knives, hairpins, and suits of armor. Visitors will also find Orientalist paintings and a wide range of decorative art. The museum also features precious examples of stained glass and Gothic furniture, which combine with classical sculptures, chandeliers, carpets, and paintings to create the cultural complex of the Ricardo Brennand Institute. A Maximilian field armour for horse and rider, dated around 1515, a German pistol sword from 1590, swords belonging to the Egyptian king Farouk, a set of rifles that stand out in the museum's collection of weapons belonging to Dom Pedro I and Dom Pedro II, as well as paintings by Blaise-Alexandre Desgoffe and William Adolph Buguereau.
