Château de Grandson - Grandson Castle, Grandson, Canton de Vaud, Confédération Suisse.

One of the most beautiful collections of antique weapons in Switzerland.
The first major battle of the Burgundian Wars, which took place on March 2, 1476, took place in the commune of Conchez, near Lake Neuchâtel, which gives its name to the castle and the small market town of Grandson. Consequently, the museum displays, among other things, weapons and armor used by the Confederates and the Burgundian army around 1476/1500. Three original bombardments, as well as a reconstruction of Charles the Bold's jeweled hat set and other interesting exhibits, test to the inestimable value of the loot that fell into the hands of the Confederates. Two models provide an eloquent overview of the events on the battlefields of Grandson and Murten. In the Great Hall of Arms, we see a large collection of armor from the 15th to the 19th centuries, as well as the coats of arms of the Friborg and Bernese bailiffs who served under the Grandsons from 1476 to 1798. Arms
The weapons exhibition corridor leading to the armory features display cases bladed weapons and vintage firearms from around 1550 to 1850. Among the exhibits are some particularly beautiful Swiss handicrafts, such as a pair of matchlock, spinning, and flintlock pistols containing the little-known Zurich native Felix Surber, who worked in Wiesbaden in 1740, as well as weapons of the cantonal militia and examples of various weapon systems.
Another room was dedicated to the most important of the Grandsons, Otho Grundson (1238-1328). He was a friend of King Edward I of England (1277–1323) and Governor of Guernsey, or the Channel Islands. In the center stands a replica of the recumbent figure from his tomb in Lausanne Cathedral, built in 1368. Also on display in this tower room is the Falcon's Cage, dating from the time of the Lords Grandson.
While exploring the castle, visitors can admire hundreds of antique weapons and many other cultural objects of historical significance, accompanied by commentary in French and German.
