Lorenz Helmschmidt (Colman), (1451-1516г.), Augsburg, Germany.

The stigma is a tournament helmet with a star.
Augsburg was one of the largest centers for the production of weapons and armor. The Colman family made a special contribution to the fame of this city's armorers. The founder of the armory was Jörg Colman; after his death in 1496, his son Lorenz Colman inherited the business. The Colman family earned the nickname Helmschmidt (literally "helmet smiths" or "helmet makers" in German) among the region's armorers, which later became the family name. Lorenz Helmschmidt worked for Emperor Frederick III, and later (from 1491) became the court armorer to Maximilian I. It is believed that in 1480, Lorenz invented a "suit" with interchangeable elements that, in different combinations, could change the function of armor: for war or tournaments, for mounted combat or foot combat.
